Without having used it in the field yet....without field tests, 4-stars relates more to non-hunting factors.
I was looking for an alternative to call cans. I found several discussions about calls similar to this so I thought I''d give it a try. It''s not bad. The sound is maybe not as good as a can, but it allows FAR MORE flexibility in tone, range, and allows to impart more desperation in my calls. I wanted a fawn in trouble call. The season doesn''t start for another two months so I''m not sure how it will go in the field.
4-star justification: PRICE ]like 8 bucks to my door is awesome[. Flexibility, I hunt a very heavily hunted area and it''s full of the same can calls.... want to try something different and I want to impart more range and emotion in my calls. This allows my that flexibility. Size: this thing is seriously tiny and virtually weightless. Seems durable being fairly hard plastic.
CONS: The reed is a bit flimsy so you have to pay attention or it will flutter giving you a vibrating squeak instead of a distress call. Unsure how it will operate in 10-20 degree weather.

I am so glad that you all carry the Lohman Snort Call. I lost an earlier one and couldn''t find where to purchase one until searching the internet. I wish you had a store in South Carolina!!
